Scarpa Barolo and Barbaresco: in Nizza Monferrato, always and forever

For generations, we have been crafting our wines, the great icons of Piedmont, in our historic cellars located in Nizza Monferrato. From Antonio Scarpa, the founder, to Mario Pesce, from Carlo Castino to Silvio Trinchero, Scarpa embodies over a century of expertise. Here, our daily aim is to continue scripting a narrative of excellence through wines that are enduring, elegant, and reflective of their terroir.

As early as the 1930s, thanks to the fervent dedication of Antonio Scarpa and his wife Ernestina in producing the finest wines their beloved land could offer, Scarpa was recognized as one of the most renowned wineries in Piedmont. The first vintage of Barolo was bottled in 1940, reflecting Scarpa's meticulous pursuit of quality. Following our beginnings in Monferrato, the first Barolo opened the doors to another highly suitable territory: the Langhe.

This historical precedent allows Scarpa to bottle Barolo and Barbaresco outside of the boundaries of the denomination, in an exception established by the disciplinary. Our longstanding history of winemaking in our facility in Nizza has been acknowledged as a testament to our unwavering commitment to the land, and to our profound love and respect for the art of showcasing its finest characteristics.
